During the month of October Conway, SC officially transforms into in Halloween, SC. The City of Conway loads up on the events calendar for October, truly transforming into a must-see destination for Halloween lovers. Check out the incredible decorations around downtown including hundreds of pumpkins hanging from the trees along Main Street. The town is also hosting a kickoff Boo-Ginning party on Oct. 1 with a costume march and contest and concert on the Town Green. In 2025, there will be a "Haunted Hustle" 1-mile, 5K, and 10K runs with glow in the dark medals for those who complete it. Movie nights will take place throughout October on The Terrace including on Halloween night. There are also brand new events like Halloween with Pedal Pub, where you can pedal through Conway’s historic streets and along the scenic Riverwalk while enjoying seasonal treats and curated stops, and the Crazy Sister's Halloween Pirate Adventure, where you can enjoy an unforgettable adventure through the eerie river waters of ‘ShiverWalk’ on the Waccamaw River. Oct. 25 is a big day with the South Carolina UFO Festival, Monster Mash on Mill Pond, and Graveyard Grand Prix Coffin Races. It's important to note that many events are already sold out like the Witches, Wizards, and Wine event and the Conway Ghost Walks - so plan EARLY!


2. thompson farm fALL FUN & Flashlight fridays

Flashlight Fridays 2025: every Friday in October, gates open at 5 p.m.

Halloween Helicopter Candy Drop 2025: Saturday, Oct. 25, 10 a.m.

Is there anything better during autumn than Flashlight Fridays and Drive-In Movies at Thompson Farm? This is one of our all-time favorite family traditions. Gates open at 5 p.m. for Flashlight Fridays, where families can enjoy Norma’s Play Area with loads of activities, the 6.5 acre corn maze, food trucks, and more. You can bring your blankets and chairs to enjoy the featured movie including favorites like Hocus Pocus and Wicked, from inside the farm. Flashlights, coffee, hot cider, and s’mores kits are available for sale. We always opt for the Drive-In Movie, which requires advanced tickets that can be purchased only on the website. Grab them early because they will sell out. The movie begins at dusk. This year, Thompson Farm will also host a Halloween Helicopter Candy Drop. Families can spend the day on the farm enjoying the 6-acre play area, corn maze, animal feedings, petting zoo, hay wagon rides, and watch the show at 4 p.m. as a helicopter flies over and drops over 15,000 festive "Pumpkin Seeds" out of the sky filled with Halloween treats and candy.


3. brookgreen gardens Harvest Home Weekend and imagination walk

Harvest Home Weekend 2025: Saturday-Sunday, Oct. 4-5, 9:30 a.m.-4 p.m.

Children's Imagination Walk 2023: Saturday, Oct. 25, 11 a.m.-3 p.m.

Brookgreen Gardens is our favorite spot to visit year-round, and they host two awesome family friendly weekend events in October. During Harvest Home Weekend, you can enjoy crafts, food trucks, live music, and build (and take home) scarecrows! Individually prepared kits are available, or bring your own clothing to use! For $7, you can take your Scarecrow home. The pumpkin patch and scarecrow building are always a family favorite, and younger children will enjoy the hay maze. Pumpkin decorating is also available ($5 for small pumpkins, $9 for large). During the Children's Imagination Walk. Pick up your scavenger hunt map next at the Butterfly Field, and follow the path to the Storybook Forest. Along the way, you’ll discover new activities, including Magical Creature Mask-Making, where you can create your mythical masks, and Potion-Making, where you’ll brew glowing “potions” using safe, colorful ingredients. Don’t miss our Wishing Tree, where little ones can hang their dreams on a special tree.

In addition to these new experiences, fan-favorite stations like Frog Races and DIY Bracelets will be back, offering endless fun for children ages 3-12 and the young at heart. There will be a Costume Parade at 2:00 pm with prizes for the most creative costumes. Both events are included with garden admission.


4. FALl Fun at Southern Palmetto Farms

Open every Saturday in October 11 a.m.-5 p.m. and Sunday 2-5 p.m.

Family fall fun at Southern Palmetto Farms kicks off on Sept. 27. Immerse yourself in the joy of the season as you explore our challenging Corn Maze, complete with interactive games to keep everyone entertained. Discover the magic of the Mini Cotton Maze and frolic in the vast Play Area featuring big slides and a thrilling Jump Pad. Take a relaxing Wagon Ride through our picturesque farm and get up close with the friendly critters at Farm Animal Alley. With so much to explore and enjoy, and don't forget about the Pumpkin Patch, and Complete Fall-Fun Extravaganza! There are themed weekends like Grandparents Weekend Oct. 4-5 and Pumpkin Palooza Oct. 11-12. Tickers are $15, and kids 2 and under are free. You can also get a season pass for $32.


5. The Hollows haunted hayride at wild woods farm

Every Friday-Sunday through Nov. 1, gates open at 5 p.m. for farm tickets and 7 p.m. for hayride only

This is a NEW experience in the Myrtle Beach area! Tickets are $25 for 3 and up, kids 3 and under are free. There is also a combo ticket with entrance to the farm from 5-7 p.m. included for $35 - and it's totally worth it! This isn’t just any farm! They have everything from camels to capybaras to zebras. If you want to feed the animals, it’s $5 and you get a LOT of food. We spent the entire two hours exploring, and the kids also enjoyed the small hay maze and corn play area. The haunted hayride was so fun and our 10-year-old loved it. It's a perfect introductory spooky event.


6. Ghoul Vibrations at lakewood camping resort

Fridays in October: 7 and 9 p.m.

This high energy show featuring amazing Halloween music sung live with high-energy choregraphy by some of the most talented ghouls around is FREE and open to the public. Guaranteed seating is available for $6, which includes early entry and popcorn if you call 843-447-7343.


7. Halloween on the MarshWalk

Friday, Oct. 31, 5 p.m.

The Marshwalk’s longest running event, Halloween on the MarshWalk brings fun and prizes to the whole family. Festivities begin at 5 p.m. with trick-or-treating for the kids. All eight restaurants have food and drink specials. The annual Children’s Costume Contest is at 6 p.m. in front of Drunken Jack’s at the Pirate Statue. Prizes will be awarded for the Most Creative, Best Group, Funniest, and Scariest prizes for kids ages 3 and up. Kids 2 and under will compete for the Awes Applause award. Prizes include trophies, ribbons, and candy bags. The Adult Costume Contest begins at 7 p.m. with over $4,000 in cash and prizes. Categories include Best Duo, Best Group, Best Individual, Most Creative, Big & Bulky, Murrells Inlet Themed and Honorable Mention.


8. spooktacular brunch at crooked hammock and BOOFEST! AT BAREFOOT LANDING

Spook-tacular Halloween Brunch: Sunday, Oct. 19, 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

Boofest!: Saturday, Oct. 25, 12-4 p.m.

Crooked Hammock has concocted a festive brunch menu, a lineup of spine-chilling cocktails and mocktails, and seasonal brews. Show off your most creative, spooky, or downright silly costume! Prizes will be awarded for the best looks across all ages, so bring your Halloween A-game. Little goblins can get crafty by designing their own trick-or-treat bags to take home. Boofest! is a family friendly event featuring costume contests for the kids and pets. Registration for the contests begins at 11 am. BooFest! will feature, in addition to the contests, stilt walkers, Corey Holden and more. And don’t forget the free movie feature, Hocus Pocus showing that night on the Pepsi Stage at 7 p.m.


9. Halloween boonanza at North Myrtle Beach Sports Complex

Saturday, Oct. 25, 5-8 p.m.

The City of North Myrtle Beach Parks and Recreation Department, in collaboration with Coastal Carolina University’s Leadership class, converts the North Myrtle Beach Park and Sports Complex into a spooktacular site for an array of Halloween fun during the BOOnanza. Activities will include a magic show, a pirate show, marshmallow roasting, games, inflatables, and more. Come dressed in your best costume and don't forget your goodie bag to collet your tricks and treats! Ages 3 and up are $5 and kids under 2 are free.
